AVP Enterprise Accounting and Reporting Specialist

As ATB Financial's next Associate Vice President, Enterprise Accounting & Reporting, you will lead the accounting functions of the organization to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the financial and management accounting records and the appropriate application of accounting policies. In addition, you will oversee and manage a cross-functional team responsible for submitting a number of regulatory reports to ATB's Regulator (ASFI). This strategic role requires exceptional technical skills in financial reporting, leadership, regulatory reporting, and internal processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the completion of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close and associated reporting.
- Lead the quarterly and annual review/audit processes with external auditors.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual report, including planning, coordination, project management, data reconciliation and benchmarking results against ATB's peers.
- Direct the ASFI regulatory reporting function, ensuring accuracy and completeness of reports, liaising with the regulator, and leading the evolution of report processes.
- Act as a key subject matter expert, providing timely and complete financial information to Senior Management and Board Committees.
- Lead, build, and maintain a multi-functional team of professionals to support financial and regulatory reporting processes.
- Establish relationships with financial industry representatives to identify current trends and best practices.
- Foster and maintain a strong control environment.
- Address strategic challenges with cross-functional alignment.
- University Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required, along with a CPA designation.
- 10+ years of leadership experience, preferably in the financial services industry with a strong focus on external reporting.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills, comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization, including Senior Management and the Board.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of IFRS and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Superior problem-solving skills for addressing complex issues.
- Thorough knowledge of financial institution transaction processes and products and capacity to effectively report on them.
