Job Summary:

The Home Care Attendant will provide personal care and home support services to clients in their own homes. This role requires a high level of initiative and independent judgment to determine work priorities and methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and home support services to clients as assigned
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks
  • Assist with light housekeeping and laundry
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education required
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute
  • Knowledge of Safe Food Handling
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job

Working Conditions:

  • Work in clients' homes, which may involve physical demands such as lifting and bending
  • May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • May be required to travel to clients' homes
