As a Senior Underwriter in Commercial Lines, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our company. We're looking for someone who can develop long-term and meaningful relationships with brokers, assess and evaluate moderate to complex risks, and provide creative solutions to improve efficiency and best practices.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining positive business partnerships with brokers, reinsurers, and co-workers.
  • Assessing and evaluating moderate to complex risks, analyzing requests for quotes, renewals, and policy changes.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members to develop their technical underwriting knowledge and to enhance broker relationships.
  • Helping shape the future of Commercial Lines Underwriting by providing creative solutions on process or workflow improvements.
  • Providing leadership to ensure that the regional underwriting service, production, and profitability levels are achieved.
About You

We're looking for someone with a minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant Commercial Lines Underwriting experience. A Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is preferred. You'll need to demonstrate a care for people by being supportive, providing candid feedback, and recognizing performance.

  • You'll need to maintain an expert and current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto.
  • You'll need to demonstrate the ability to handle complex risks.
  • You'll need to have awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues.
  • You'll need to show superior organization and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • You'll need to exhibit exemplary and proactive customer service skills to identify needs, effectively negotiate, and provide tailored solutions to brokers.
  • You'll need to have great communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • You'll need to possess strong negotiating skills and business savvy.
  • You'll need to show initiative and ability to work under pressure.
  • You'll need to have sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
