Job Summary:
The Brake Development Lab (BDL) is a critical component of the Engineering Systems Development – Chassis / Body-in-White (ESD – CBIW) department. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Brake Development Lab Engineer to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct and supervise activities in the BDL, ensuring efficient operation of two brake-end dynos and one full-size chassis dyno.
- Develop and implement test setups, collect and analyze data using the Laser Vibrometer and Caliper Test Stand.
- Supervise unionized personnel, focusing on safety, environmental, and conflict resolution.
- Participate in departmental activities, including vacation coverage for the Corrosion Teardown lab.
- Work flexible hours, including afternoons, midnight shifts, and weekends, as required.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle suspension and braking systems.
- Proficiency in Team Center and NX software, with Link ProLink software suite knowledge an asset.
- Previous experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum 1 year of engineering experience in a testing environment within the automotive industry.
- Supervisory experience, with ability to manage unionized personnel.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada, with ability to travel to the USA.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering.
