Research Associate - Laksman Lab
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at the University of British Columbia. The successful candidate will support and work closely with Dr. Laksman in developing and managing research activities throughout the research project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement research projects, including grant applications and research proposals.
- Conduct literature reviews and analyze data to inform research decisions.
- Collaborate with researchers and administrators to ensure effective execution of research activities.
- Provide technical knowledge and direction to research team members.
- Manage research budgets and ensure transparent justifications for expenditures.
- Develop and recommend project budgets, monitor expenditure of funds relative to budget.
- Implement processes for research data management and analysis.
- Assist with Research Ethics Board applications and amendments as required.
- Manage and develop necessary agreements for the research program.
- Serve as a primary point of liaison between researchers, administrators, and funding agencies.
- Identify new translational pathways for new technologies and encourage entrepreneurial activities.
- Contribute intellectual and scientific input to manuscripts for publications.
- Provide organizational structure for research laboratory.
- Manage research lab in terms of budget, ordering, stocking, supplies, and student safety and orientation.
- Liase between students and facilities and operations in terms of lab maintenance and support.
- Provide research data management and bioinformatics support for research endeavors.
- Support trainees by providing input on fellowship applications, manuscripts, basic statistical support, data visualization, and similar duties as required.
- Assist clinical research coordinator by providing support for functions such as HR management, financial reporting, reagent/equipment purchasing, and similar duties as required.
PhD and 6 or more years of relevant experience. Experience in grant preparation and scientific manuscript preparation is required. Knowledge of and/or experience in project management principles is required.
