About the Position

Shelter Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Shift Supervisor to join our team at Barry House. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of guest services, mentoring and coaching frontline workers, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure the provision of effective guest services
  • Mentor and coach frontline workers to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Ensure adherence to Shelter Nova Scotia's policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote a culture of teamwork and cooperation among employees
  • Collaborate with the House Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the facility
  • Perform daily inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with Shelter Nova Scotia's standards
  • Assist with scheduling and payroll verification as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, or Human Services
  • 2 years of experience working in a supervisory role in a residential facility or community corrections
  • Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR Level C, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant at all times while on duty
  • Ability to successfully pass a Child Abuse Registry check and/or Government of Canada Personnel Screening or Criminal Record Check
