About the Role:

The Métis Nation of Ontario is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as Associate Chief of Staff for the Provincial Secretaries. This role involves providing administrative support to the Chief of Staff, ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of the office, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Chief of Staff, including solving problems and addressing complex matters.
  • Attend executive meetings and briefings, providing progress reports and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Build strong relationships with MNO Directors, staff, and elected officials, acting as a liaison between the Chief of Staff and MNO administration.
  • Proactively address urgent issues and ensure confidentiality and effective resolution.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role or government leadership positions.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher certification.
  • Recent experience interacting with boards or councils at a senior leadership level.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in project management and organizing projects to successful outcomes.
  • Excellent written and public speaking skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented and results-focused.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Superior organization, project-management, and time/priority-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve conflicts and manage challenging situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong desire to act in the service of Métis Citizens.
  • Significant knowledge of Métis rights, governance, and policy issues.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of Métis governance structures and decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of Métis history, culture, rights, and contemporary issues.
  • Knowledge of Métis-specific and broader indigenous challenges and programs.
  • Preference will be given to Métis applicants.
  • Bilingualism (considered an asset).
