Responsibilities of an Airport Security Officer

  • Screen the traveling public and their belongings to ensure compliance with security regulations.
  • Prevent non-permitted items from entering secure areas.
  • Control access to restricted areas and respond to alarms and incidents.
  • Participate in emergency operations and report any security breaches or incidents.

Requirements to become an Airport Security Officer

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Must have a clean criminal record and be eligible for RAIC (security clearance).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be located near the airport or willing to relocate before starting.
