About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aviation Safety Inspector to join our team at Employment and Social Development Canada. As an Aviation Safety Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of aircraft and the maintenance of aeronautical products.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting inspections and oversight activities in various aviation environments;
  • Evaluating the compliance of maintenance and manufacturing organizations with regulatory requirements;
  • Providing guidance and support to industry stakeholders on safety management systems and quality assurance practices;
  • Collaborating with other teams to develop and implement policies and procedures related to aviation safety.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence;
  • Recent experience in a Canadian approved aircraft maintenance organization (AMO) or approved manufacturing organization;
  • Extensive experience in the performance of complex activities in a wide variety of situations with six (6) or more years of industry experience as a licensed AME;
  • Extensive experience demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility throughout their career;
  • Possession of an AME license with an S rating (aircraft structures) or an E rating (aircraft electronic systems).

Working Conditions

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires:

  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work outside core business hours and on weekends;
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally perform inspection and oversight activities in various aviation environments that may be hazardous;
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
