Medical Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our Addictions Medicine team at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinating functions and activities of members within the designated clinical areas in the facility, ensuring effective delivery of services in line with regional and site service delivery plans.
- Liaising with department medical staff and RDH to establish and monitor volume and quality targets, while being mindful of budget constraints.
- Encouraging multidisciplinary quality improvement and utilization management activities among department members, promoting engagement in reviews of standards of medical practice and investigating complaints regarding care provided by medical staff.
- Attending Multidisciplinary Healthcare Co-ordinating Committee meetings and serving as the channel of communication between the regional department and local medical staff, ensuring awareness of Fraser Health objectives, policies, and general activities.
- Recommending policies and guidelines on medical/clinical matters consistent with Medical Staff by-laws and rules, promoting health and wellness among department members and encouraging a respectful workplace.
- Mediating disputes involving department members at site and identifying potential liability issues and providing advice for specific cases/files to RDHs, RMD, and/or legal Counsel as required.
- CCFP certification, CPSBC Full registration, and membership in the Department.
- Active practice in Addictions Medicine with SMH as primary site.
