Job Title: Senior Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join our team as a Senior Associate. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will be responsible for leading the commissioning process and department, and will have the opportunity to grow and develop a team around you.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of experience working on commercial, institutional, or residential building projects. You will have a proven track record of commissioning projects, and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision. In addition, you will have excellent communication and leadership skills, and be able to mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commissioning process and department, including preparing commissioning test procedures and reports, and developing and maintaining commissioning logs and equipment checklists.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for various building MEP systems, including fire alarm and control systems, HVAC, chillers and CRAC units, and integrated system testing.
  • Compile all testing procedure results and commission plan preparation.
  • Follow company QC process and procedures, and help lead and manage any external resources.
  • Schedule and direct periodic commissioning meetings, and attend construction and coordination meetings as required.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners' agents as needed.
  • Execute project assignments, and interact with all facets of the company, including engineering, design, and operations.
  • Manage and mentor staff, growing and building a commissioning team within the firm.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience working in mechanical engineering, with at least 5+ years of experience working with Canadian building codes, bylaws, etc.
  • Able to work in Calgary, Alberta in a hybrid work model.
  • 4+ years of experience working specifically with mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, or residential building projects.
  • Experience doing inspections and commissioning on projects, with a desire to focus more exclusively on this area and lead the development of the commissioning team and department within the firm.
  • Registered EIT or Licensed Engineer with APEGA or relevant association is strongly preferred.
  • Leadership experience (mentoring junior staff) is an asset, with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledgeable of relevant building codes and standards.
  • Motivated, organized, and highly attentive to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to come up with solutions.
