Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Designer to join our team at Mitchell Plastics. As an Automation Systems Designer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of automation systems that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Develop design concepts into complete functioning 3D CAD designs, adhering to customer requirements and standards.
  • Design Drawings and Documentation: Generate design drawings and detailed documentation, including Bill of Materials and Detail prints.
  • Project Collaboration: Collaborate with Process Engineers, Project Management, Automation Specialists, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Training and Support: Assist Jr. Automation Designers on their assigned projects and provide training and support as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Be actively involved in continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities for improvement and communicating them through the appropriate channels.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in automation design, with a focus on designing, building, and start-up of assembly equipment.
  • Education: Trade certification and/or college diploma in Machine Tool Building or Automation Design.
  • Skills: Experience with SOLIDWORKS mechanical design software, understanding of machine guarding and other safety requirements, and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
