Pharmacy Assistant

About the Role: As a Pharmacy Assistant at Federated Co-operatives Limited, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy department.

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Pharmacy Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for providing top-notch service to patients, responding to their inquiries in a friendly and efficient manner, and referring all clinical inquiries to our pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients both in person and over the phone, responding to their inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
• Perform inventory management functions, including ordering pharmacy inventory, maintaining optimal stock levels, and identifying expired products for disposal or return to the manufacturer.
• Enter and manage patient profiles, ensuring accurate and up-to-date details, and process and submit insurance claims efficiently.
• Maintain and control the point of sale system, accurately completing transactions in accordance with cash handling policies and procedures.
• Perform technical aspects of medication dispensing, including receiving prescriptions from patients and processing them efficiently and accurately.
• Other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Requirements:

• Experience in procurement of merchandise and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask, work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, and physically able to perform heavy lifting tasks.
• Willingsness to further knowledge through training and previous experience in a pharmacy department.
• Successfully pass pre-assignment testing as per Southland's Alcohol & Substance Policy.
