Caretaker Assistant

Job Opportunity: Casual Caretaker

About the Role:

The Casual Caretaker will provide support to the library by performing various maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed. This is an elect-to-work position, and the successful candidate will be asked to cover shifts on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

• Clean all public and staff areas of the library, including mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, emptying and cleaning waste and sanitary bins, and refilling paper towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers.
• Mow lawn, rake leaves, and remove snow as required.
• Place garbage and recycling bins on the curb on the appropriate day.
• Report any maintenance needs to the CEO as soon as observed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to use cleaning and maintenance equipment effectively and safely.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to working with equipment and chemicals.
• Good working knowledge of basic plumbing, heating, and carpentry.
• Physical ability to move heavy equipment, shovel snow, etc.
