Electrical Design and Drafting Expert

Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc is a full-service consulting and engineering firm serving the infrastructure and engineering markets.

Our rapidly growing Power district includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines, focusing on the EPC delivery model for power facilities.

This position is based out of our Calgary, Alberta office.

Responsibilities
  • Design and draft intermediate electrical drawings.
  • Properly size cables and raceways.
  • Perform layout of electrical equipment in electrical buildings.
  • Develop 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills.
  • Check and navigate in the 3D models for interferences and constructability.
  • Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule.
  • Perform calculations to check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements and size pull boxes.
  • Perform calculations to size pull boxes according to NEC requirements.
  • Work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Identify changes in the scope of work during a small project and produce design changes as needed.
  • Meet or exceed quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Comply with company standards to produce quality deliverables.
  • Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting systems.
  • Participate in project meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years' experience in Design and/or Drafting disciplines with a background in electrical design.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design preferred; minimum GED Diploma with drafting or electrical design training.
  • Experience utilizing 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or SP3D.
  • Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
  • Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English language.
