Brand Marketing Strategist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Brand Marketing Strategist to join our team at Loblaw Companies Limited.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will provide tactical support for the development and execution of marketing campaigns and programs, reporting to the Director, Brand Development. This role is an early step in the brand marketing career path, supporting cross-functional campaign teams through close analysis of insights and trends, and owning the details in campaign delivery to ensure seamless execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute social media strategies and content calendars, building and leading social content briefs, reviewing and providing feedback on creative work, and driving reporting and optimization recommendations to the business.
- Support the brand team in developing marketing briefs, compiling consumer/business insights, and pulling in relevant past campaign data to advise standard processes.
- Coordinate with internal/external agency counterparts and other partners to review and approve creative work, ensuring it aligns with established brand guidelines.
- Proactively monitor in-flight campaigns for optimization opportunities, flagging them to the team and implementing decisions as needed.
- Contribute to post-mortem discussions, documenting findings and key measures, and working with partners to compile campaign performance reports.
- Social Media Strategy & Content: Supports the Social CoE in executing the divisional social media strategy and content calendar, builds and leads social content briefs, reviews and gives feedback on creative, leads promotional activations, drives reporting and optimization recommendations to the business.
- Campaign Planning: Supports the brand team in developing the marketing brief, including compiling consumer/business insights (e.g., insights from the Customer CoE) and pulling in relevant past campaign data to advise standard processes
- Campaign Execution - Creative: Supports the brand team in coordinating with internal/external agency counterparts, and other partners (e.g., Loblaw Media, Loblaw Digital) for the review and approval of creative; closely reviews creative against established brand guidelines, and aggregates feedback provided by collaborators (e.g., Marketing and Division leadership)
- Campaign Execution - Deployment: Coordinates campaign deployment, ensuring the launch and execution aligns to campaign objectives; proactively monitors in-flight campaigns for optimization opportunities, flags them to the team, and implements decisions; actions other execution-related needs from the Division/Merchant teams, or local store operations, as required
- Optimization, Innovation & Best Practices: Contributes to the post-mortem process, including working with partners to compile campaign performance report reports with key measures, participating in post-mortem discussions, and documenting findings
- Campaign Metrics & Tracking: Supports budget planning, development and monitoring/updating (including status reports); updates brand/project/important metric dashboards; contributes to research, analysis and reporting to inform campaign activity
- Billing: Oversees management of budget control report, making sure campaigns are delivered in full against the planned budget. Also responsible for ensuring vendor invoices paid in a timely manner
About You:
- A high degree of accountability and strong organization skills.
- Balancing delivery for multiple projects & priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Brand communications, creative & media strategy (traditional and digital media).
- Knowledge of general marketing strategy and business principles, including key performance metrics.
- Knowledge of leading and emerging social media platforms, content trends, and tactics to grow organic reach, engagement and following.
- Developing insights and reporting program results with data & analytics.
- Strong oral presentation skills.
- Marketing brief writing.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).
- 1-3 years of experience in CPG or Retail Marketing environment, supporting marketing campaigns, including writing marketing briefs.
- Experience working in teams, preference for cross-functional team experience.
- Experience owning projects from to planning to execution.
What We Offer:
Loblaw Companies Limited offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
