About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide a wide range of clinical services to individuals, including screening, assessment, individual counseling, treatment planning, discharge planning, crisis intervention, group programming, case management/navigation, and consultation.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work, and have two years of related clinical experience, preferably working with individuals with substance use/gambling concerns and/or mental health. You will also have demonstrated knowledge of community resources/programs and community development methods, as well as a high degree of proficiency in screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment.

We are looking for someone who can build and maintain collaborative working relationships within healthcare and the community at large, and has a sound working knowledge of harm reduction strategies and stages of change theory. You will also have knowledge and experience with brief intervention strategies, solution-focused approaches, motivational interviewing skills, and client engagement strategies, as well as knowledge and experience with trauma-informed care approach.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of social determinants of health/social context and its importance to decision formulation, and will be able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and cultural competency. You will also have knowledge of recovery-oriented practice & patient and family-centered care, and have previous experience working with a significant amount of autonomy ensuring the plan of care is being fully articulated and work collaboratively with the care teams when adjustments are needed.

About You
  • We are looking for someone with a strong educational background in Social Work, preferably with a Bachelor's degree.
  • You will need to be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work.
  • Two years of related clinical experience, preferably working with individuals with substance use/gambling concerns and/or mental health.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources/programs and community development methods.

Hours
  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits

$42.89 Hourly.
