About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Finishing Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls. As an Industrial Finishing Technician, you will be responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to various products and surfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain equipment used for spraying and coating products.
  • Prepare and apply stencils, decals, and other decorative items to finished products.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Inspect surfaces for contamination before applying paint or coatings.
  • Apply high-performance protective coatings to metal surfaces, fabricated parts, assemblies, and structures.
  • Utilize knowledge of chemical application techniques to achieve optimal results.
  • Paint using a variety of methods, including spray, brush, and roll.
  • Select and mix the appropriate paint or coating for each project.
  • Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including those outlined in the Johnson Controls safety program and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Requirements

  • Completion of college or vocational training in a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working as an industrial painter in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience painting sheet metal is preferred.
  • Experience using a spray gun is essential.
  • WHMIS Certification is required.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with team members.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing over 25 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors.

Working Conditions

  • Commercial/Industrial environment with potential hazards.
  • Long periods of standing and potential for overtime.
