POSITION OVERVIEW
The 4th Class Power Engineer is tasked with overseeing the operation of the facility, which encompasses mechanical systems and various supporting infrastructures. This role involves conducting systematic inspections, executing preventative and corrective maintenance, and addressing routine and urgent service requests related to facility mechanical equipment and systems. The Power Engineer is also responsible for adhering to established protocols and regulations, ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection measures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshooting: Evaluate the condition of facility mechanical and electrical systems, identifying deficiencies and recommending improvements and repairs.
- Maintenance: Execute tasks in line with established procedures. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to meet facility uptime goals and maintain asset integrity. Respond to service requests and perform necessary maintenance on mechanical systems. Conduct facility walkthroughs to monitor equipment conditions. Manage the lifecycle of work orders, documenting resolutions in the service maintenance management system. Ensure all completed work meets quality and contractual standards. Assist in implementing preventative maintenance programs and ensure that deficiencies are documented and escalated appropriately.
- Client Relations: Foster tenant and customer satisfaction by delivering services in a professional manner.
- Administrative Duties: Participate in facility-related projects, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and safety regulations. Maintain tools and arrange for repairs as needed. Submit expenses promptly.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma along with relevant trades training or certification.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems or pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Strong understanding of facility operations and maintenance processes.
- Proven ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment.
- Commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Excellent client-service skills with a strong sense of urgency.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification.
- Mentoring abilities to support the development of junior technicians.
- Willingness to work shifts and be available for on-call duties as needed.
- Adherence to Health and Safety policies, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
- Valid driver's license.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- 4th Class Power Engineer Certification - required.
- Building Operator Certification or equivalent from an accredited institution - required.
- Provincial HVAC or apprentice license (e.g., Gasfitter I & II license, refrigeration license).
