Senior Insurance Payment Specialist

Summary
The Senior Insurance Payment Processor plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of insurance payments for our patients. This position requires a meticulous individual with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and training to Payment Processors on all carrier payment procedures.
- Maintain and update department training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Offer backup support for open positions or absent processors, ensuring seamless workflow continuity.
- Meticulously review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to guarantee accurate posting of all items, including dates of service, allowable amounts, non-covered services, and patient responsibility.
- Reconcile deposits and EOBs for assigned carriers, providing a clear accounting of unposted totals and carrier issues to leadership.
- Effectively follow up on unidentified accounts or work queues as assigned.
- Process insurance payments and rejections in the system promptly and accurately, maintaining a production standard of 8,000 transactions per month.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Insurance experience is essential.
- Two years of experience in a related field is preferred.
- Accurate typing rate of 40 wpm and proficient data entry skills are necessary.
- Ability to retain detailed information and work independently within established guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, mathematical aptitude, and attention to detail are crucial.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear and concise communication with internal and external customers.
- Basic knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and proficiency in operating equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and 10-key calculators.
- Professional appearance and demeanor are essential.
