About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Victoria Airport. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of security personnel and ensuring the safety and security of airport grounds, roadways, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule the deployment of security personnel to maximize coverage of airport grounds, roadways, and facilities.
  • Assign security personnel to cover emergency situations and special events.
  • Act as the first point of contact with staff and airport customers in the event of an incident.
  • Provide backup and assistance in response to disturbances on airport grounds and crowd and traffic control in ATB areas.
  • Observe and report individuals found violating or suspected of violating city, provincial, and federal laws.
  • Coordinate the transfer, transportation, and processing of arrested or detained individuals with the RCMP.
  • Review and approve submitted incident reports and prepare comprehensive reports on security operations.
  • Oversee the preparation of and complete staff performance appraisals.
  • Make recommendations for discipline and implement corrective or disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • Valid Restricted Area Identification Card.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills, including working under pressure.
  • Discretion when handling confidential and private information.
  • Ability to pass a security clearance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and graveyard shifts.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma.
  • Basic Security Training, a valid security license, and first aid training are considered assets.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Minimum High School Education.
  • Valid BC Security License.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • OFA I.
