About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Orthopedic Surgeon to join our team in the Western Zone of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our orthopedic surgery department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients within the zone.

The successful candidate will have expertise in general orthopedics with a focus on primary hip and knee arthroplasty, trauma coverage, and ideally some foot and ankle or additional subspecialty expertise. You must also hold expertise in amputation or be willing to undergo additional training to demonstrate competence in this area.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full-scope orthopedic surgery services to patients within the Western Zone
  • Participate in on-call shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage
  • Liaise with staff within the zone and province to advance the delivery of orthopedic surgery care
  • Offer consultation support to the Western Zone, including daytime and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • Be accountable to the patient population in Western Zone by providing clinics and satellite clinics that require travel
  • Operate within the Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health
Expected Hours
  • 0.75 FTE, permanent position
  • On-call schedule
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Membership with the Canadian Orthopaedic Association
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $350,000 to $450,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
