About the Position

The Centre for Trades at Lethbridge College is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with excellent communication skills to instruct in our Carpentry Apprenticeship Program. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in ongoing curriculum development, instruction, and evaluation of student progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and course materials
• Select, develop, and implement appropriate instructional strategies
• Plan and prepare the physical or virtual learning environment
• Deliver classes
• Promote an effective and efficient learning environment
• Assess student performance in a valid and reliable manner
• Maintain and/or submit program/student records accurately and promptly
• Discuss with students career and employment objectives
• Be available to students to support learning
• Attend and participate in meetings related to their employment
• Participate in activities that enhance instructors overall effectiveness
• Promote the trade and the college to prospective students

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman certification in the Carpenter Trade with a minimum of 5 years in the trade, Red Seal certification an asset
• Strong, diverse skills and experience
• Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software plus an aptitude to learn new software applications and systems
