About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at NEW ISLAND CHINESE AND JAPANESE RESTAURANT INC. as a key member of our kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste.
  • Portion Control and Cost Management: Determine the size of food portions and costs to maintain profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Customer Service: Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, and provide exceptional service to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and organization, and clean kitchen and work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Cuisine Specialties: Prepare sushi and Japanese cuisine dishes, and stay up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and techniques.

Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role, or equivalent experience.
  • Work Conditions: Physically demanding, with a focus on standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, and working under pressure.
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, dependability, flexibility, reliability, team player, time management, and a strong work ethic.
