Production Worker

Job Summary
Picks copper off moving conveyor and provides relief in other areas within General Scrap. Must have reliable transportation to and from work site as job site not accessible by transit.
Key Responsibilities
- Keeps work area clean and ready to go daily
- Provides relief to other areas within general scrap operations
- Keeps conveyor pulleys clean
- Picks copper and plastic to ensure that quality material is shipped to our customers
- Assists in meeting monthly production goals
- Maintains constant and clear communication with the office, gate security, and operators controlling traffic in and out of unloading area
- Directs customers to appropriate unloading areas (when acting as a load inspector)
Education and Experience
- Completion of High School and/or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Ability to push, pull, and lift materials up to 50 lbs.
- Standing for up to 8 hours, regular walking, squatting, and climbing
- Ability to learn and follow direction
- Mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
- Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, works safely, and makes sure everyone around him is working safely
- Strong command of the English language both written and spoken
