Solutions Architect Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to lead technical engagements in Canada for Fortune 1000 customers. As a key point of contact, you will interact with leadership teams at client sites, manage project activities, and oversee a small offshore team (5-10) from Canada.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team to build a highly scalable and extensible big data platform that collects, stores, models, and analyzes massive data sets from multiple channels. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Aligning Sigmoid with key client initiatives
  • Interface daily with customers across leading Fortune 500 companies to understand strategic requirements
  • Connecting with CIO, VP, and Director-level clients on a regular basis
  • Understanding business requirements and tying them to technology solutions
  • Building a delivery plan with domain experts and staying on track
  • Designing, developing, and evolving highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using Big Data technologies
  • Experience in application development and support, integration development, and data management
  • Building and managing a team day-to-day
  • Playing a key role in hiring managers to build the future of Sigmoid
  • Guiding developers in day-to-day design and coding tasks, stepping in to code if needed
  • Defining your team structure, hiring, and training as needed
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest technology to ensure the greatest ROI for customers and Sigmoid
  • Hands-on coder with good understanding of enterprise-level code
  • Designing and implementing APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns to solve challenging distributed computing problems
  • Experience in defining technical requirements, data extraction, data transformation, automating jobs, productionizing jobs, and exploring new Big Data technologies within a parallel processing environment

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant work experience and a Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience as a dynamic leader who has directly managed a team of highly competent developers in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience in architecture and delivery of Enterprise-scale applications
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in agile methodology, development and support experience in Big Data domain, architecting, developing, implementing, and maintaining Big Data solutions, experience with database modeling and development, data mining, and warehousing, and experience with Hadoop ecosystem and AWS/GCS Stack
