Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to assist with driving duties and warehouse operations on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver donations, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Assist with processing donations by unloading, sorting, packing, and storing materials, maintaining the integrity of the donations.
  • Support the selection of donations for store distribution, adhering to established quality standards and distinguishing between acceptable and unacceptable merchandise.
  • Meet daily targets by counting, weighing, and recording incoming and outgoing donations.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to confirm deliveries and pickups, as needed.
  • Comply with safety procedures and maintain a tidy work environment, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as power jacks, as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License, supported by a clean Driver's Abstract.

Experience and Skills:

  • Up to 12 months of prior related experience, including warehouse processing or goods distribution, and knowledge of lifting guidelines.
  • Experience in sorting food and goods.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing more than 40 pounds.

Additional Requirements:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
