Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Academic Program Technologist to support our academic programs.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Support the learning process by demonstrating the use of equipment and reinforcing applied pre-learned principles/theory related to lab skills, procedures, and assessment.
  • Establish an appropriately supportive learning environment for students, providing guidance and assistance in "live fire" and/or practical situations.
  • Share technical expertise/advice with academic staff and students as required.
  • Evaluate and ensure all lab safety standards and standard operating procedure requirements are being followed.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design lab set ups for skill development based on current practice used in community agencies and in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, providing observations on student skill progression, attendance, and problems.


Required Skills and Qualifications:




  • Valid Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder certification.
  • Successfully completed a one-year post-secondary certificate in a relevant field of study.
  • At least three years' experience working in a pre-hospital setting (paramedicine and/or fire service) and experience in training and demonstrating medical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information in a clear concise manner.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to self-direct, work independently as well as a team member.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, and awareness of health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Suite.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Basic Life Support with AED certification.
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage time effectively.
