Journeyman Pipefitter Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Pipefitter to join our team at Johnson Controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication and installation of piping systems, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and install piping/equipment supports, brackets, guides.
  • Fit up and prepare piping requiring welded joints.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other trades.
  • Repair plumbing systems, hydronic heating systems.
  • Perform filter changes on hydronic heating systems, control air, air-handling units.
  • Provide occasional guidance to the primary function of others, including training.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
  • Measure, cut, and thread to required shape using hand and power tools.
  • Weld, tack, and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping systems.
  • Install supports, valves, piping.
  • Test systems for leaks using testing equipment.
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush systems.
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate systems.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Johnson Controls safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Steamfitter – Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate preferred.
  • 5+ years experience as a Journeyman Pipefitter.
  • First-aid certification is an asset.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license.
  • Receptive to change – can adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
  • Respect diversity – treat others with respect.
  • Avoid unnecessary conflict.

Working Conditions:

  • Job requires ability to work with tools.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50 lbs for 50 feet is required.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
