Job Description

The Fund Accounting Controller is a critical role within our organization, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Fund Accounting activities. This position manages the accounting and reporting for commingled funds and separate accounts within our Private Funds and Advisory business, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of finance, operations, and accounting principles, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the financial reporting process for all quarterly and annual financial statements of private funds, reviewing working papers and investor reporting for commingled funds and separate accounts.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop fund accounting accountants and managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Oversee the Investor Reporting Portal, ensuring adequate controls over investor information and timely reporting of investor and investment performance.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of all regular and ad hoc management reports, meeting the needs of stakeholders and investors.
  • Manage the quarterly and year-end close process, including oversight of the quarterly close calendar and resolution of complex accounting matters.
  • Lead and facilitate process improvements and automation of workbooks to enhance accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
  • Oversee all financial regulatory compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Enforce proper internal controls, recommending improvements to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Develop strong relationships within the organization to identify and solve issues collaboratively, driving business growth and success.
  • Assist with special projects and strategic goals, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Finance, Commerce, or relevant field, and CPA designation.
  • 8+ years of firm or industry experience, including 2+ years of manager and/or leadership experience.
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASPE accounting frameworks, with knowledge of IFRS an asset.
