Job Summary:
School District #42 (Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows) is seeking a skilled Millwright to perform a variety of tasks to ensure the safety and optimal use of our buildings and facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, installing, repairing, and testing stationary and mobile mechanical equipment and structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laying out, reading, and interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications of district buildings and facilities in accordance with by-laws and codes.
- Maintaining, installing, repairing, and testing stationary and mobile mechanical equipment and structures.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborating with other tradespeople and district staff to ensure seamless operations.
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
Requirements:
- Appropriate Trades Qualification (TQ) Certificate (Millwright, Machinist, or Welding) plus two (2) years' experience in a maintenance environment after completion of the TQ.
- Sufficient physical strength, health, and coordination to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and harmoniously with staff, students, parents, contractors, and outside agencies.
- Ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.
- A valid BC driver's license.
