About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority, providing speech language pathology services in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' communication and swallowing abilities, identifying areas of need and developing targeted intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional care teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring seamless coordination of patient care.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, making adjustments as needed to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide education and consultation to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, progress, and treatment plans.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC).
  • Demonstrated expertise in speech language pathology theory and practice, with a focus on acute care settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage competing demands, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Broad knowledge of health care professions and their roles in patient care.
