Job Summary

The Pharmacy Services Specialist will provide exceptional pharmacy services to customers and medical practitioners. This role will play a key part in achieving departmental excellence in patient-focused care, customer service, workflow efficiencies, and PROfile programs.

Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Services Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical services, including disease state management, medication reviews, and health risk assessments
  • Ensuring prescription safety and prioritizing technical functions to Pharmacy Assistants when available
  • Initiating care plans, following up, and documenting patient information
  • Collecting relevant patient, drug, and disease information
  • Identifying actual and potential drug-related problems and monitoring medication adherence
  • Providing patient counseling for new therapy and determining patients' understanding of their medication
  • Tailoring counseling to the needs and concerns of the patient, including literacy, hearing loss, and privacy

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Pharmacy Services Specialist will require:

  • Above-average communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-directed and able to work independently to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
  • A valid license to practice as a pharmacist in the province of responsibility
  • Injection certification
  • Previous experience in a retail and/or retail pharmacy setting preferred
