The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in accounting for large-scale construction projects. They should have proven skills in implementing and applying budgetary controls for construction projects.

A DEC in accounting combined with 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar construction-related position is essential. The successful candidate will also be computer literate in Word, Excel, and SPACE (asset), and bilingualism in French and English is preferred.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of construction project accounting, ensuring that financial reports are forwarded to the financial institution for prompt release of funds. They will implement and apply accounting controls to construction projects, reviewing contracts to ensure accurate disbursements of funds to sub-trades.

In addition, they will assist the project manager in preparing construction budgets, assist in preparing financial statements and year-end files, and prepare GST & PST reimbursement requests applicable to construction projects.


Requirements

  • DEC in accounting combined with 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar construction-related position.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and SPACE (asset).
  • Bilingualism in French and English is preferred.
  • Able to perform with minimal supervision.
  • Strong initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous.
  • High work standards.
  • Strong communicator both orally and in written form.

Compensation Package

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000-$110,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive compensation package and opportunities for growth and professional development.
