VIA Rail is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our passengers, employees, and property.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce laws and regulations related to the protection of property and people on VIA Rail property;
- Patrol assigned areas, including stations and trains, to prevent and detect crime;
- Respond to emergency situations and provide initial assistance to ensure the safety and security of passengers and employees;
- Collaborate with other officers and first responders to maintain a safe and secure environment;
- Conduct minor investigations and assist other departments as needed;
- Build and maintain partnerships with law enforcement and intelligence agencies;
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including government agencies, transportation associations, and community groups;
- Stay up-to-date with changing laws and regulations to ensure compliance and effective policing strategies.
- Graduated from a recognized Canadian police college or academy;
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- At least 5 years of experience as a police officer in an accredited Canadian police force;
- Pass a thorough background check and obtain a federal attestation of personnel security, secret status;
- Meet medical and physical fitness standards for police officers;
- Hold a valid permit to drive an emergency vehicle in the province where you work;
- Willing to travel and work variable shifts;
- Excellent communication skills in both official languages;
- Solid written communication skills in English or French.
