We are seeking a skilled metal fabrication assistant to join our team at A Class Truck & Trailer Repair Ltd.

The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced fabricators to assist in the production of high-quality metal products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain metal cleaning equipment, ensuring efficient removal of excess welds, rust, and scale from metal surfaces.
  • Immerse metal products in cleaning solutions, adhering to established protocols for optimal results.
  • Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, and other metal workers in various tasks, promoting a collaborative workshop environment.
  • Sort and organize metal sheets, parts, scrap metal, and other materials, maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
  • Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools, demonstrating attention to detail and precision.
  • Clean and maintain machines and immediate work areas, upholding high standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Load and unload vehicles, ensuring timely delivery and collection of materials.

Requirements:

  • No formal education required, but relevant experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with repetitive tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Capacity to lift up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs) and work in a noisy environment.
  • Dependability, flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic are essential qualities for this role.
