**Job Summary:**

School District #22 (Vernon) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant - Bilingual to join our team. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, promoting inclusive learning environments, and collaborating with teachers and other staff members to ensure student success.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities.
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, implementation, and assessment, as well as with classroom management and organization.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as special education, behavior management, and technology integration.
  • Collaborate with other support staff, such as counselors and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive student support.

**Requirements:**

  • 6 months of relevant training or experience in education assistance, including recent Okanagan College Education Assistant certificate or equivalent education.
  • Familiarity with current special education technology and software.
  • Proven ability to learn and successfully use new technology, as well as possess literacy, numeracy, and English skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, flexibility, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team setting.
  • Bilingual - fluency in French and English is required.

**Working Conditions:**

  • 27.5 hours per week, 10-month position.
  • Services will not be required on In-Service and Non-Instructional Days.
  • Wage: $28.15 per hour.
  • Shift: Schedule is dependent upon student needs.
