Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Energy Analyst to join our team in Toronto. As an Energy Analyst, you will be integral to our project teams, collaborating with senior consultants and experts to provide innovative data-based solutions for clients.
Key Responsibilities- Build models and create data-based solutions for clients using programming languages such as Excel, R, Python, GAMS, Stata, and VBA.
- Conduct comprehensive energy analysis, including market analysis, literature reviews, document examination, and writing memos to provide insights and support expert reports.
- Prepare client deliverables, including presentations and memos, with figures, quantitative results, and novel findings.
- Support expert witnesses in preparing expert reports and presentations, helping our experts present complex economic and financial concepts clearly in legal and regulatory contexts.
- Collaborate with team members to develop robust and innovative solutions for our clients.
- Build novel financial, economic, statistical, and operational models using a variety of tools.
- Analyze electricity, natural gas, and other energy markets and apply this information in financial, legal, and policy settings.
- Develop, maintain, and run power system models, including capacity expansion and security-constrained production cost models.
- Provide in-depth regulatory and policy research and summarize insights through literature review.
- Communicate research and analyses to project team members and clients.
- Think critically about analysis results and discuss findings with an internal team.
- Coauthor publications and be part of presentation teams.
As an Energy Analyst at The Brattle Group, you will gain skills in applied economics and finance, as well as a broad understanding of the electricity industry and adjacent industries. You will work in a collaborative and fun atmosphere where dedication to quality, project success, and individual career and professional development are emphasized.
By the end of your first year, you will have learned to conduct basic research, build spreadsheets and models, present research findings clearly and concisely, and you will have gained experience across different parts of the electricity industry.
Requirements- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. economics, computer science, data science, and mathematics), with strong academic performance.
- Great teamwork and leadership skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity.
- A high degree of ownership and commitment.
We look for candidates who have completed or will complete a course with climate or energy focus, have completed a significant, self-defined project using quantitative analysis and economic principles, and can apply quantitative analysis and economic thinking to real-world cases during the interview process.

Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross annual salary for this position in Toronto is 90,000 CAD.
