Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation
    • Prepare patients for dental examinations, ensuring they are comfortable and informed throughout the process.
    • Prepare plaster models and moulds for dental procedures.
  • Administrative Support
    • Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory, including ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
    • Record dental procedures performed on patients, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Patient Education and Support
    • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide guidance on maintaining good oral health.
    • Polish teeth and clinical crowns, and apply fluoride and sealant as needed.
  • Front Desk and Scheduling
    • Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring seamless communication with patients and staff.
    • Perform reception and clerical duties, including answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Instrument Maintenance and Sterilization
    • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • X-Ray and Imaging
    • Take and develop X-rays, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Certifications and Memberships
    • Membership in the Canadian Dental Assistants Association.
    • Registration with provincial or territorial authorities.
    • Certification by the National Dental Assisting Examining Board.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
    • Experience
      • Experience an asset.
    • Certifications and Licenses
      • Membership in the Canadian Dental Assistants Association.
      • Registration with provincial or territorial authorities.
      • Certification by the National Dental Assisting Examining Board.
