Welcome to Baker Tilly Ottawa, a leading provider of financial advisory, accounting, assurance, tax, and business advisory services in the Ottawa region. We are seeking an experienced Tax Professional to join our tax services team.

As a Tax Professional, you will assist in providing excellent client service, ensuring all aspects of our client's tax compliance needs are met, and providing clients with tax planning opportunities. You will also research and resolve complex tax-related issues.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and review of various Canadian income tax returns (T1, T2, T3, and T5013 returns) and tax election forms.
  • Providing assistance to Partners and Managers on tax planning assignments.
  • Participating in special engagements.
  • Researching tax issues and preparing memoranda.
  • Liaising with tax authorities on audits and requests for information.
  • Preparing and presenting technical sessions for staff.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a public accounting firm.
  • A professional designation.
  • A commitment to learning in a tax environment.
  • Research, analytical, and problem identification skills.
  • Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements for tax provisions.
  • Computer skills, including Caseware and Taxprep.
  • Strong understanding of a client-focused environment, including organizational skills to handle multiple projects with conflicting timelines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
