Logistics Coordinator Job Description

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a skilled Logistics Coordinator to oversee the efficient movement of goods from vendor sites to our stores or customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transportation logistics and be able to analyze data to determine the most cost-effective methods of freight movement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and dispatch freight movements in a timely manner
  • Coordinate the transfer of freight between Slegg stores
  • Obtain rate quotes from carriers to assist with decision making
  • Analyze data to determine the most economical means of moving freight
  • Communicate with internal sales professionals and purchasers to ensure customer deliveries are met
  • Facilitate operations/shipping/receiving calls as necessary
  • Analyze and suggest solutions to mitigate freight and logistics costs
Requirements:
  • Degree/diploma in supply chain, logistics, or business administration (welcome but not required)
  • Two or more years of experience in transportation logistics (considered an asset)
  • Previous experience in the trucking industry (asset)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust to urgent situations
