We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for operating within the scope of practice for Pharmacy Technicians as outlined by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
Main Responsibilities- Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
- Receive prescriptions from practitioners and ensure they are complete and authentic by verifying allergy status and demographics.
- Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products according to established procedures.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others by verifying order entries and performing final checks.
- Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence by reviewing, translating, and converting existing inpatient medication orders previously reviewed and approved by a pharmacist.
- Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
- Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
- Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
