Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team at EVRAZ North America. As an Electrical Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.

Responsibilities
  1. Receive wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done.
  2. Analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings as required to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify or service all types of electronic devices and systems.
  3. Plan detail of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and select a logical approach to "trouble shooting" and repair problems.
  4. Answer trouble calls.
  5. Make sketches of parts and layouts, design and construct adaptations or conversions of component parts.
  6. Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on all types of electronic devices.
  7. Make mechanical and electrical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electronic equipment.
  8. Inspect, dismantle, service, reassemble, test, and adjust equipment for safe and proper operation.
  9. Maintain, install, or repair all communication cables or wiring.
  10. Make power cable splices.
  11. Climb on buildings, towers, and mill equipment to make inspections, repairs, and installations.
  12. Consider all safety precautions and proper isolations of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations.
  13. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment.
  14. Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
  15. Work in shop or field as required.
  16. Maintain performance and maintenance records on electronic equipment.
  17. Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  18. Read and interpret ladder logic PLC programs.
Requirements
  1. Diploma from a recognized Electrical Engineering Technology program.
  2. A minimum 2 years' experience in an Electrical Engineering Technology role or minimum 4 years' experience in an industrial environment or operating steel/pipe facilities.
  3. Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  4. Experience in pipe manufacturing.
  5. Knowledge of OH&S regulations and safety standards.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word.
  8. Available to work the Afternoon shift (3:00-11:00 PM).
  9. Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician.
