Job Title: Apprentice Plumber

Xcel Construction Limited is seeking a motivated and skilled Apprentice Plumber to join our team. As an Apprentice Plumber, you will assist experienced plumbers in installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing system layouts.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for plumbing projects.
  • Instruct apprentices in plumbing techniques and best practices.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings.
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
  • Schedule personnel, tools, and equipment for plumbing projects.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
  • Supervise other workers on plumbing projects.
  • Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects.
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems for plumbing design and planning.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size.
Work Environment:
  • Physically demanding work environment.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
  • Hand-eye coordination required.
  • Large workload and overtime may be required.
  • Work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in plumbing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Judgement and team player skills.
  • Accurate and efficient interpersonal skills.
  • Client focus and excellent written communication skills.
