Electronic Arts Game Environment Artist Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Game Environment Artist to join our team at Electronic Arts. As a key member of our world-building team, you will be responsible for creating immersive and believable game environments that transport players to new worlds.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects and collaborate with talented artists, designers, and engineers to bring our games to life. The successful candidate will have a strong portfolio that showcases their expertise in environment art, architecture, and visual design.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with World Building Directors and Environment Art Directors to establish environment theming and tone, as well as references for sections of the world.
  • Collaborate with Level Designers to iterate on and refine game levels, ensuring a high level of detail and believability while maintaining gameplay intentions.
  • Partner with the Technical Art team to explore and test different methods for creating and laying out game worlds, including procedural layout tools and workflows.
  • Own significant sections of the world, defining requirements and establishing detailed goals for yourself and your teammates.
  • Work with Tech Art and Engineering teams to establish performance and memory budgets, setting achievable targets for world density.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working on video game asset production teams.
  • Experience shipping environment content in an intermediate to senior role on 2-3 shipped console/PC titles.
  • Strong knowledge of architecture, urban planning, and visual design principles.
  • An excellent sense of visual composition, form, and color.
  • Experience with various methods for creating game worlds, including modular systems and procedural tools.
  • Excellent knowledge of how to manage game content for optimal performance.
  • A degree in Fine Arts, Animation, Visual Design, or a related field.

Our base salary range for this role is $122,400 - $176,300 USD annually, depending on location. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity opportunities.
