The District of North Vancouver is seeking a skilled Truck Driver - Swamper to join our Solid Waste Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating a tandem axle rear load garbage packer, collecting garbage and yard trimmings/organics, and performing routine equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities- Operate a tandem axle rear load garbage packer safely and efficiently
- Collect garbage and yard trimmings/organics from designated areas
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and pre and post trip inspections
- Complete daily work records and enforce regulations governing the work
- Interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner
- Valid Class 5 Licence and a safe driving record
- Completion of Grade 10, supplemented by truck driving experience
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment safely and efficiently
- Physical ability and agility to perform swamping tasks
The pay range for this unionized position is $ per hour (2024 rates) per hour plus 12% in lieu of all benefits increasing to 16% following the completion of 1600hrs of work.
