Reefer Shop Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Erb Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reefer Shop Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for supervising reefer shop operations and personnel, ensuring the safety and quality of our refrigerated fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate reefer shop activities, including training, performance management, and hiring.
  • Plan and conduct preventative maintenance checks and safety inspections on refrigeration equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for quality, cost control, waste reduction, safety, and vehicle availability.
  • Schedule and plan shifts for staff, working closely with other shop supervisors to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to drivers and other terminal shops on reefer services.
  • Maintain relationships with third-party vendors, local providers, and national accounts.
  • Analyze and diagnose problems, making decisions on repairs in conjunction with the Corporate Fleet Director and Baden Shop Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with operations at the Baden terminal to ensure equipment availability.
  • Address Occupational Health and Safety issues related to the shop.
  • Support and advise other terminal shops on reefer services as needed.
  • Monitor reefer parts and system inventories, new unit installations, and decommissioned unit removals.
  • Maintain and repair transport refrigeration units as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 8 years of reefer experience, with factory training on Thermo King and Carrier preferred.
  • Valid G-class driver's license required.
  • Proven supervisory skills, with a strong focus on quality, cost-effective fleet maintenance.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong working knowledge of mechanical applications and repair techniques.
  • Quality decision-making skills and ability to use good judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
