Environmental Specialist

Plains is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Specialist to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. As an Environmental Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting our capital expansion program, integrity program, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide technical support to project execution teams on environmental permitting and biophysical study requirements, regulatory requirements, environmental risks, timelines, and costs.
- Propose and report on project budgets and identify opportunities for efficiencies, cost reductions, and improvements in environmental planning, permitting, and performance.
- Support implementation of Environmental Planning Process, Environmental Permitting Process, Environmental Management Program, and Operations Management System (OMS).
- Develop and promote the concepts of environmental protection, controls, and processes.
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8+ years' planning and permitting support as well as project management experience related to capital expansion programs, integrity programs, and operational activities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
- In-depth understanding of environmental permitting regulations, submissions, and requirements for planning, construction, and post-construction stages across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
- Familiarity with wildlife surveys, wetland/aquatic assessments, environmental inspection/monitoring, and reclamation.
- High level of understanding of provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Technical experience managing environmental sensitivities, implementing mitigation measures, and tracking/reporting of requirements during all project phases.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with strong communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- A team player who thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
- Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean abstract.
