Fleet Management Specialist

At CN, we're committed to excellence in our operations and we're looking for a skilled professional to join our team as a Fleet Management Garage Technician. As a key member of our maintenance team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our fleet.

Duties:

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing on a variety of vehicles, including cars, light trucks, medium/heavy trucks, and truck trailers, as well as mounted vehicle attachments and material handling equipment.

• Utilize electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, as well as other vehicle repair tools, to perform repairs and maintenance.

• Record details of work performed on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures.

• Work in-shop, outside, and at field locations as required, with variable shifts to accommodate vehicle availability.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Must be in possession of a valid Provincial Department of Labor Journeyman Certificate in the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanical Repair Trade.
  • Additional mechanic certification, such as an Automotive Mechanic Journeyman Certificate, is an asset.
  • Must be able to pass the current Mechanic 'A' test.
  • Must be capable of servicing and repairing various types of Hirail equipment.
  • Must have at least five years' experience in the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport repair trade.
  • Capable of certifying company equipment in accordance with Provincial/Regulatory requirements.
  • Provincial driver's license is required, with air endorsement and class upgrade an asset.
  • Capable of operating all types of vehicles and equipment serviced in the garage.
  • Required to have own basic hand tools sufficient to perform repairs and servicing to all types of fleet equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a shop environment, as well as outside at terminals and in the field.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with variable shifts to accommodate vehicle availability. Prolonged stays away from home may be required when performing fieldwork.
