About the RoleThe Health Care Social Worker position is responsible for facilitation of intake for MHA services. Intake is a provincial program, and the position can be filled at any NSH Intake location in the province.
- Facilitation of access into and out of Mental Health & Addictions
- Building working relationships, assisting with problem solving and support individuals while they learn to self-navigate the health care system
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work required
- Registration with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers required
- Three years of related experience in Mental Health and Addictions in a healthcare setting
- Experience working with individuals with Mental Health and/or substance use/gambling concerns
This role requires a high degree of motivational interviewing skills and engagement techniques, as well as experience utilizing screening and triaging tools. Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and stages of change theory is also necessary. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs and community development methods, as well as recovery-oriented practice and patient-centered care.
BenefitsThis permanent, full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $35.86 - $46.87, as well as eligibility for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
